Daniel Schweizer founded his own winery in Schwaigern, Baden-Württemberg, in 2014, the final year of his winemaking apprenticeship. Even at a young age, he sought out authentic wines that combined elegance and traditional craftsmanship. His winery allows him to realize his vision of sustainable and individualistic viticulture.

A defining experience was 2016, a particularly rainy year in which the soil was too wet for tractors. Thanks to the support of a friend who was a teamster and helped with his horses, they were still able to work the vineyards without causing major damage. This experience led Daniel to gradually switch to working with horses. Now, the entire vineyard area is cultivated exclusively with horses or by hand, as indicated by a small horse on the label.

His philosophy is based on biodynamic principles and a trust in natural processes. The wines are fermented spontaneously with natural, ambient yeasts, without temperature control, filtration, or fining agents. This minimal intervention results in unique wines with individual characteristics each year.

By using horses and sheep, Daniel fosters a vibrant ecosystem in the vineyard, protects the soil, and maintains its vitality. This traditional method allows him to immediately perceive any changes in the soil and react accordingly.

Daniel's wines are distinctive, direct, and unpretentious – natural wines with character that authentically reflect the winemaker's style and the unique characteristics of the terroir. His commitment to sustainability and traditional winemaking methods makes him a leading figure in natural winemaking in Germany.
