Collection: Heiligenblut winery

Since 1924, the Heiligenblut winery has been home to the Hannemann family. Brothers Christian and Martin Hannemann, now in their fourth generation, manage the estate, which is known for its sustainable, honest, and vibrant wines. With an impressive history dating back to 454 AD, the winery combines tradition with a clear, modern vision. The name "Heiligenblut" (Holy Blood) is a reminder of the Christian monks who, according to legend, were executed at this site by Attila the Hun. In their memory, Saint Boniface had a chapel built and the first vines planted in 746 AD.

Villa Heiligenblut, built in 1826, is surrounded by the monopole vineyard Heiligen Blutberg, which covers less than 3 hectares. The soil, composed of volcanic melaphyre, a rare dark volcanic rock, shapes the minerality and structure of the wines.

The winery stands for the harmony between low-intervention practices and tradition. Here, they work passionately to produce wines that delight both novice and connoisseurs. The focus is on classic Rheinhessen grape varieties such as Riesling, Silvaner, Pinot Noir, and Scheurebe, which has been cultivated since its experimental stages.

The two brothers share a mission: to preserve nature and culture and to bring joy to life. After their training and experience at renowned wineries worldwide, they returned to Alzey-Weinheim with a clear vision to get the best out of their vineyards – especially the unique monopole vineyard Heiligen Blutberg.
