The Scheurebe Alte Reben 2022 is a wine that impressively embodies the long tradition and deep connection of the Heiligenblut winery with this special grape variety. This grape variety, bred in 1916 in Alzey, just a few kilometers from the winery, has found a special home here. Scheurebe has been cultivated on the estate since its earliest experimental stages, and the oldest plot from which this wine originates is now almost 60 years old. This vineyard is likely one of the oldest Scheurebe plantings in the world – a unique combination of tradition and history.
With only 9.5% alcohol, the 2022 Scheurebe Alte Reben presents itself as a delicate yet characterful wine. Light green and herbal notes, paired with an elegant structure and fine grip, lend it a captivating balance between freshness and depth. This exciting and elegant wine invites exploration.
A must for anyone who appreciates authentic, handcrafted wines – a lighthearted pleasure that pays tribute to the home of the Scheurebe grape and the art of natural winemaking.
Since 1924, the Heiligenblut winery has been home to the Hannemann family. Brothers Christian and Martin Hannemann, now in their fourth generation, manage the estate, which is known for its sustainable, honest, and vibrant wines. With an impressive history dating back to 454 AD, the winery combines tradition with a clear, modern vision. The name "Heiligenblut" (Holy Blood) is a reminder of the Christian monks who, according to legend, were executed at this site by Attila the Hun. In their memory, Saint Boniface had a chapel built and the first vines planted in 746 AD.
