The BRUTAL!!! 2023 is a single-varietal Riesling and the first German representative of the legendary Brutal wine line. The vines grow on the same limestone hill as other iconic wines from 2Naturkinder, including the Fledermaus (Bat) and the Siebenschläfer (Dormouse). The steepest section, from which the grapes originate, was planted in 2015 by Michael and his family – a project with personal significance, symbolizing the connection between tradition and family.
2023 was an exceptional year for Riesling: a hot, dry summer, combined with sufficient summer rainfall, produced optimally ripened grapes with perfect balance. Inspired by the styles of Rita and Rudolf Trossen, this wine preserves the clear typicity of Riesling and complements it with exceptional elegance.
The BRUTAL!!! 2023 delights with a precise aromatic profile of citrus fruits, green apples, and mineral notes. An unusually creamy texture for a Riesling combines with vibrant acidity and a fine structure. On the palate, it is fresh, complex, and boasts a long, invigorating finish – a Riesling full of finesse and expressiveness.
During a tasting in Italy, where Antony Tortul and Patrick Bouju were searching for a new, worthy bearer of the Brutal!!! label, this wine emerged as a crowd favorite and a worthy recipient of the new, gold Brutal label. With the presentation of the labels by Jean Louis Pinto in France, the path was paved for the first German Brutal wine.
