This 2020 Cabernet Franc from Rheinhessen demonstrates what's possible when passion meets skill. Velvety smooth, with pleasantly light tannins and subtle spice, this red wine invites you to explore – whether you're just starting out in the world of wine or are already a seasoned connoisseur.
Aaron Kreichgauer's inspiration for this wine came from a special moment:“ When I returned home in autumn 2020 after an internship with Sylvain Pataille, and the grape harvest was still in full swing, I really wanted to make a red wine. Since all the Pinots had already been harvested, I chose Cabernet Franc.”
The grapes were hand-harvested in early October, a small portion was left as whole clusters, and the wine was allowed to macerate on the skins for approximately six weeks. After this intensive period, it matured for 18 months in used barriques before being racked twice off the lees and bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur. Production is deliberately kept small at around 1,000 bottles to preserve quality and authenticity.
Whether as an accompaniment to hearty braised dishes or for a relaxed evening: This wine brings elegance and naturalness to the glass.
Aaron Kreichgauer vinifies his wines in Dorn-Dürkheim, Rheinhessen, at his father's winery. Here he works independently and benefits from healthy soils and, since 2010, organically cultivated vines.
