The Heiliger Blutberg 2021, along with the Kapellenberg, represents the pinnacle of the Heiligenblut winery's portfolio. This exceptional single-vineyard wine originates from the monopole vineyard "Heiliger Blutberg." With its terraced, south-facing slopes and the rare black volcanic rock melaphyre found in Rheinhessen, this vineyard provides an exceptional foundation for a great wine.
As early as the 19th century, the Heilige Blutberg (Holy Blood Mountain) was renowned for its exceptional wines. Today, the two brothers are dedicated to bringing this historically significant vineyard back to the forefront of the world of premium wines, demonstrating their commitment and craftsmanship. Here, vines up to 70 years old root in a thin layer of soil deeply connected to the melaphyre. This unique terroir imparts an extraordinary, profound minerality and impressive density to the wine.
The Heilige Blutberg 2021 is a wine that has evolved over many years. With each bottle, it tells more of the story and uniqueness of its terroir, while its aromas gain in depth and complexity.
This single-vineyard wine should be decanted and allowed sufficient time in the glass to fully develop its potential. It pairs superbly with sophisticated dishes such as grilled fish, veal sirloin, or refined vegetarian creations.
Since 1924, the Heiligenblut winery has been home to the Hannemann family. Brothers Christian and Martin Hannemann, now in their fourth generation, manage the estate, which is known for its sustainable, honest, and vibrant wines. With an impressive history dating back to 454 AD, the winery combines tradition with a clear, modern vision. The name "Heiligenblut" (Holy Blood) is a reminder of the Christian monks who, according to legend, were executed at this site by Attila the Hun. In their memory, Saint Boniface had a chapel built and the first vines planted in 746 AD.
