The Weinheimer Riesling Melaphyr 2022 from the Heiligenblut winery is an authentic terroir wine that brings the uniqueness of its soil and origin to the glass in an incomparable way.
The black melaphyre volcanic rock, extremely rare in Rheinhessen and especially prevalent in the region around Weinheim and the Heiligenblut winery, gives this wine its distinctive character. This soil formation is a rarity and makes the area surrounding the winery and the Blutberg vineyard a special place for viticulture.
The Weinheimer Riesling Melaphyr impresses with its crystal-clear minerality, vibrant acidity, and subtle fruitiness, all supported by a harmonious structure. This wine impressively reflects its origin and rare terroir. Perfect for Riesling lovers who appreciate the region's unique character and the combination of classic style and natural winemaking.
Since 1924, the Heiligenblut winery has been home to the Hannemann family. Brothers Christian and Martin Hannemann, now in their fourth generation, manage the estate, which is known for its sustainable, honest, and vibrant wines. With an impressive history dating back to 454 AD, the winery combines tradition with a clear, modern vision. The name "Heiligenblut" (Holy Blood) is a reminder of the Christian monks who, according to legend, were executed at this site by Attila the Hun. In their memory, Saint Boniface had a chapel built and the first vines planted in 746 AD.
